Jewellry Care
Basic Care
Odd Bird is about fun, not formality! However some care should be applied because it is handcrafted.
This is jewellery that should be treated like an art piece. It is not meant to be worn while swimming (not 100% waterproof) or playing sports (too delicate) etc.
It is best to remove rings when washing hands. Nor should the decorated dominoes be slammed about as if they are part of an actual domino game!
Nothing is recommended for small children due to small pieces that could pose choking hazards.
To clean, simply wipe with a soft cloth. A tiny amount of windex can be used to carefully clean the glass marble pieces.
Dominos
Each decorated domino is printed and coloured by hand, then coated with glaze and sealed. The resin dominoes come in white or ivory colours and vary in thickness. Some may be embellished with a rhinestone or Swarvorski crystal. Each decorated domino process takes 2-3 days to complete. Each decorated domino is truly unique!
Due to some supplier issues, jewellery finding styles may change at any time.
Please note that I’m still trying to source a sealer that has UVB/UVA protection, which means that the colours will fade in constant/direct sunlight. So be careful when displaying the dominoes in/near shop windows.
Glass Marbles
These are actual glass marbles, not resin! The images inside the marbles are taken from vintage postal stamps, playing cards, patterned papers, etc.
Finding Materials
What kind of metals are used for the jewellery findings? In order to keep costs low I do not use sterling silver or gold findings. I use many different findings from multiple suppliers. Most are nickel, “white metal” (mixture of metals) or gun metal. Occaisionally another finding style/material may be used. Earrings can be made with silver plated findings if requested.
